PLC Activity  (1 – 2:30)

What is a Professional Learning Community PLC stands for a Professional Learning Community.  Richard Dufour is probably one of the most recognized for developing the popularity of PLCs being used for school improvement.  The book that he wrote based on his work at Adlai Stevenson High School using PLCs to reduce their failure rate from over 20% to less than 2% has been used internationally in hopes of doing the same.  Now his model is focused on tapping into the successes within the walls of the school to promote that same success in other areas, but we are going to look at another model of PLCs.

What most of you will find when returning to your school is that you are the most knowledgeable person at your school about the latest and greatest tech tools out there.  But even more, you understand the appropriate way to integrate these tools into your classroom to improve student learning.  However there are many new tools that are launched between summers and some of you may not return to MAET for classes with this cohort, so how will you stay on top of the best tools for your students and the techniques for integrating them?  Developing a PLC.

Your PLC may already be established online, but what other resources can you collect to make that stronger.  What tools do you use to monitor your resources and keep your life simple?
